Seems that one enthusiastic developer from XDA have come up with an Android 4.1 Jelly Bean ROM for the near-archaic smartphone. The phone was originally released with Android 2.1 Eclair, in November of 2009 but stopped getting updates after the Android 2.2 Froyo. Of course the new ROM is not as speedy as on the latest devices, however, it seems to run pretty well and seems to have only few major flaws. One of the flaws reported is the camera being slow and sometimes not working altogether. However, some have even found the camera working perfectly.

There might not be many Droid users today, but many Android lovers might still have it in their drawers. This might be a great time to see your old friend perform on the latest technology. You can find all the download links and instructions on installing the Android 4.1, Jelly Bean ROM on this XDA thread.
